"Comparing The King James Bible & The Clear Word Bible"

Genesis 2:25 (KJV)

25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Genesis 2:25 (CW)

25 Adam and the woman, whom he called Eve, wore no clothes in those days, yet they were unashamed because they were innocent and covered with the light of God's presence.

Genesis 3:6 (KJV)

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Genesis 3:6 (CW)

6 As Eve watched the serpent eat the fruit, she suddenly felt a strong urge to taste it too.  She reached out and touched the fruit and nothing happened.  Then she picked it, took a bite and instantly felt a surge of energy.  Excited, she took more fruit and ran to find her husband. When Adam saw her, he sensed what she had done. But in the blush of her excitement, she looked more beautiful than ever.  He couldn't bear the thought of living without her, so he took the fruit and ate it also.

Job 2:1 (KJV)

1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

Job 2:1 (CW)

1 The next time representatives of the universe came together to meet with God, Satan presented
himself for admittance to again accuse God regarding Job

Jude 1:9 (KJV)

9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Jude 1:9 (CW)

9 In contrast to these ungodly men is the Lord Jesus, also called Michael The Archangel, for he is over the entire angelic host.  When he was challenged by Satan about his intentions to resurrect Moses, he didn't come at Satan with a blistering attack, nor did he condemn him with mockery.  He simply said, "God rebuke you for claiming Moses' body.

1000 Years In Heaven?

On January 19, 2011, in Heaven, by Milton Carnes

Is This True?

Here is what the video is saying!

The millennium is the thousand-year reign of The Messiah with his saints in heaven between the first and second resurrections. During this time the wicked dead will be judged; the earth will be utterly desolate, without living human inhabitants, but occupied by Satan and his angels.

At the end of the 1000 years, The Messiah with his saints and the Holy City will descend from heaven to earth. The unrighteous dead will then be resurrected, and with Satan and his angels will surround the city; but fire from The Most High will consume them and cleanse the earth. The universe will thus be freed of sin and sinners forever.

What happens when The Messiah comes back?

Are the Saints taken to heaven for 1000 years?

Let The Scriptures Speak!

1 Corinthians 15:22-28

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in The Messiah shall all be made alive.

23 But every man in his own order: The Messiah the firstfruits; afterward they that are The Messiah's at his coming.

24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to The Most High, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that The Most High may be all in all.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17

15 For this we say unto you by the word of The Most High, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of The Messiah shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For The master himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of The Most High: and the dead in The Messiah shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet The Messiah in the air: and so shall we ever be with The Messiah. (Note: This scripture does not say that we are going to heaven, but we assume that it does)

Revelation 20:6

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of The Most High and of The Messiah, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Once we are caught up in the air, are we going to heaven?

Job 19:25

25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Zechariah 14: 1-4

1 Behold, the day of YHWH cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then shall YHWH Elohim go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. (The exact same place in which he ascended to heaven! See Acts 1:9-11, Acts 1:12)

5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and The Most High My El shall come, and all the saints with thee. (Notice that our destination is Jerusalem)

Are The Wicked completely destroyed at The Messiah's second coming?

2 Thessalonians 2:1-10

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Master Yahushua The Messiah, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of The Messiah is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called The Most High, or that is worshipped; so that he as The Most High sitteth in the temple of The Most High, shewing himself that he is The Most High.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Master shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: (Note: It does not say “The Wicked” but it is referring to “That Wicked”; the man of sin, the son of perdition in verse 3)

Look at the same scripture from the Greek Interlinear Bible Click Here

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

More proof that all people of the earth are not dead but still living as the nations!

Isaiah 24:1-6

1 Behold, the Most High maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the Most High hath spoken this word.

4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

Micah 4: 1-4

1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Most High shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Most High, and to the house of the Most High of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of The Most High from Jerusalem.

3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of The Most High of hosts hath spoken it.

Isaiah 2: 2-4

1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of The Most High's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of The Most High, to the house of the The Most High of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of The Most High from Jerusalem.

4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Isaiah 11: 4-12

4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.

9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of The Most High, as the waters cover the sea.

10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that The Most High shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Zechariah 14: 1-3

1 Behold, the day of The Most High cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then shall The Most High go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

When does this take place? The Messiah's Second Coming!

Zechariah 14: 16-19

16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, The Most High of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, The Most High of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith The Most High will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. (Notice that this is during the 1000 year reign of The Messiah)

Revelation 12: 4-5

4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto The Most High, and to his throne. (Note: If no one is left on earth then who is he (The Messiah) ruling with a rod of iron, the Saints? No, the nations!)

Revelation 2: 26-27

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Revelation 19: 14-16

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty The Most High.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Understanding Revelation 20

If people are still here on earth, then how can Satan roam the earth during the millennium? - Revelation states that Satan is bound for 1000 years in the "bottomless pit":

Revelation 20:1-3

1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. (Notice: Satan will deceive the nations no more. Where? Here on earth!)

The word "bottomless pit" comes from the Greek word abussos see below:

Revelation 20: 4-15

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of The Messiah, and for the word of The Most High, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with The Messiah a thousand years.

5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. (Notice: This passage states, "the rest of the dead" and it does Not say, "the wicked dead")

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of The Most High and of The Messiah, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,v

8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from The Most High out of heaven, and devoured them.

Notice carefully "the beloved city." Remember, this city could not possibly be the New Jerusalem because it does not descend to earth until after the first earth passes away (see Rev. 21:1,2). Plus death and hell hasn't been thrown into the lake of fire yet. This has to happen before the New Jerusalem can come down.

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before The Most High; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Notice: The Book of Life is opened. If all of the saints are with The Messiah, why open the book of Life?)

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Notice: Other names have been added to the book of life)

Look At The Logic!

If we are in heaven because of The Messiah's Second Coming, then that means The Messiah would have to come to earth again in a Third Coming. There is no Biblical evidence of a Third Coming!

The wicked are all slain or burned at his second coming and no one is left on earth (the first cook-out).

The wicked dead is raised & burned after the 1000 year reign when they try to take the Holy City (the second cook-out)

Finally at the Great White Throne Judgement, the wicked dead are thrown into the Lake of Fire (the final cook-out).

Did Elijah, Enoch, & Moses Go To Heaven?

On January 19, 2011, in Heaven, by Milton Carnes

Let The Scriptures Speak!

John 3:13 (King James Version)

And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. (Note: If Elijah, Enoch, and Moses are in the third heaven where the throne of The Most High is, then what The Messiah said is untruthful)

What About Enoch?

Genesis 5:22-24 (King James Version)

22 And Enoch walked with The Most High after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with The Most High: and he was not; for The Most High took him. (Note: This verse DOES NOT SAY that Enoch went to heaven. It says he was NOT FOUND, for The Most High TOOK HIM. But this verse does not say WHERE The Most High took him)

Hebrews 11:5 (King James Version)

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because The Most High had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased The Most High.

What Does The Word "Translated" Mean?

Many just assume that the word "TRANSLATED" must mean "Taken To Heaven or Being Made Immortal". The Greek word for "translate" is Metatithemi. According to Strong's Concordance this word means:

Other variations on how this word is used:

Galatians 1:6 (King James Version)

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of The Messiah unto another gospel: (Note: This is the same Greek word translated (Metatithemi).but it is used as "REMOVED")

Acts 7:15-16 (King James Version)

15 So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, 16 And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem. (Note: This is the same Greek word translated (Metatithemi).but it is used as "CARRIED OVER")

What Happened To Enoch?

Hebrews 11:3-13 (King James Version)

3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of The Most High, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

4 By faith Abel offered unto The Most High a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, The Most High testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because The Most High had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased The Most High.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to The Most High must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

7 By faith Noah, being warned of The Most High of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is The Most High.

11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

12 Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

13 These all died in faith ("including Enoch"),not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Enoch died, but remember what the Messiah said:

John 3:13 (King James Version)

And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. (Note: Therefore Enoch could not be in heaven)

Did Elijah Go To Heaven?

2 Kings 2:1 (King James Version)

1 And it came to pass, when The Most High would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

Continued In Verse 11

11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. (Note: Which heaven, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd heaven?)

12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

13 He (Elisha) took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is The Most High of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

2 Kings 2:16 -17 (King James Version)

16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of The Most High hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.

Where is Elijah? We find Elijah is still on earth having written a letter to the king of Judah (Jehoram)

2 Kings 3:11-12 (King James Version)

11 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of The Most High, that we may enquire of The Most High by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

12 And Jehoshaphat said, The word of The Most High is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

Notice that Elisha was already the prophet in place of Elijah while Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, was still alive.

2 Chronicles 21:1 (King James Version)

1 Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

2 Chronicles 21:5-6 (King James Version)

5 Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of The Most High.

2 Chronicles 21:12-15 (King James Version)

12 And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith The Most High of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself:

14 Behold, with a great plague will The Most High smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:

15 And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

Note: Jehoram was king, AFTER Jehoshaphat died and Elijah was taken into 'heaven' by a whirlwind, then a letter came from Elijah to Jehoram, proving Elijah was still alive somewhere on the earth.

John 3:13 (King James Version)

13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. (Note: Therefore Elijah could not be in heaven)

What About Moses?

Deuteronomy 34:4-6 (King James Version)

4 And The Most High said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

5 So Moses the servant of The Most High died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of The Most High.

6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

But What About The Transfiguration?

Matthew 17:1-9.(King James Version)

1 And after six days The Messiah taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

strong>4 Then answered Peter, and said unto The Messiah, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7 And The Messiah came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save The Messiah only.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, The Messiah charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

Let's look at another vision!

Acts 9:10-12 (King James Version)

10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said The Most High in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Master.

11 And The Most High said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

Paul had seen Ananias in a vision, without Ananias even knowing it! Ananias was told about this afterwards. A person appearing in a vision does not mean that this person is there physically.

Acts 12:6-10 (King James Version)

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7 And, behold, the angel of The Most High came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

The transfiguration was a VISION!

What Does The Bible Say About Heaven?

On January 19, 2011, in Heaven, by Milton Carnes

The word heaven(s) occurs 583 times in 551 verses in the King James Version of The Holy Scriptures.

The word heavens occurs 133 times in 127 verses in the King James Version of The Holy Scriptures.

Let The Scriptures Speak!

Genesis 1:1 (King James Version)

In the beginning Elohim created the heaven and the earth. (Notice: Most translations refer to heaven(s) which is plural)

Look at Genesis 1:1 from The Hebrew Interlinear Bible:

Genesis 1:1 (New International Version) 1 In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1 (American Standard Version) 1 In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1 (New American Standard Bible) 1 In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.

Jeremiah 4:25 (King James Version) I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.

Revelation 19:17

"I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come."

Genesis 22:17 In blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore.

The Second Heaven

Genesis 1:14-17 (King James Version)

14 And ELohim said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And Elohim made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And Elohim set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, (Notice: This is talking about outer space; beyond the earth's atmosphere)

The Third Heaven

Psalm 11:4 (King James Version)YHUH is in his holy temple, YHUH's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. (Notice: it doesn't reveal which heaven.)

Deuteronomy 10:14 (King James Version) Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is Yahuah's thy Elohim, the earth also, with all that therein is.

Job 22:12 (King James Version) Is not Elohim in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

2 Corinthians 12:2-4 (King James Version)

2 I knew a man in Messiah above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: YHUH knoweth;) such a one caught up to the third heaven.

3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: YHUH knoweth;)

4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Again, what are the three levels of heaven?

1. The atmosphere in which we live.
2. Space.
3. The throne of The Creator.

Does The Bible Really Promise Heaven?

On January 19, 2011, in Heaven, by Milton Carnes

Believe it or Not….The Bible Does NOT Promise "Heaven"!
By Garner Ted Armstrong

Millions in the Christian-professing world believe they will be raptured to heaven. They sing of "heavenly mansions," our "home up above," and of "going to be with the Lord."

In thousands of funeral ceremonies, clergymen confidently assure bereaved relatives their loved ones are already in heaven, and the belief is indelibly reinforced in an atmosphere of pain and fear of the unknown. But does the Bible really teach Christians go to heaven when they die?

Why is it there are no segregated graveyards?

Never have you seen indicated on tombstones that some of the bodies there were only the physical relics of souls which are now screaming in hell fire!

Yet, such is the belief of millions who confidently assume the teaching of a heavenly home, or an ever-burning hell.

No matter how sinfully the recently departed might have lived, many a pastor seems able to comfort distraught loved ones with the thought that, at the very last moment, cantankerous and crusty old Uncle Claude somehow made it through the pearly gates!

For over twenty-eight years, I have offered a certified cashier's check for $10,000 to anyone who can come up with the words "immortal soul," "When we get to heaven," "I will see you in heaven," and "We go to heaven when we die."

Not in all those twenty-eight years, with millions hearing my words, has a single person been able to claim the certified cashier's check for $10,000!

Why not?

Simply because such words are not in the Bible!

Remember, there is only one source for the real truth about what happens at death.

The Bible is The Eternal's handbook to man—the revelation of knowledge man could not otherwise discover for himself. The Bible is revealed knowledge!

It does not purport to be a textbook on science, mathematics, geology, astronomy, biology, or physics. However, it is that one book from which and through which all study should be approached.

The Eternal did not waste space in His Word repeating for man, endlessly, thousands of things man could easily discover for himself.

He did, however, reveal to the willing hearts and minds of those human beings who are not hostile to The Eternal's Word a precious fund of knowledge which we could not discover for ourselves!

The Bible is proved to be the divinely-revealed Word of The Eternal!

Paul said, "All scripture is given by inspiration of The Eternal [meaning, 'The Eternal-breathed'], and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16).

The divinely-revealed Word of The Eternal is the ultimate source to which we must go to discover the real truth about the reward of the saved, about what happens at death; about the promise of "heaven," or the threat of "hell."

Wouldn't it seem logical to you that if heaven is the reward of the saved; that if hell is the reward of sinners; that if the saints are raptured away to heaven—there would at least be one scripture somewhere in the Bible plainly saying so?

Is it logical to you that of all the doctrines of the Bible, these main-line, trunk-of-the-tree "doctrines" of a "rapture," or "going to heaven," or an "ever-burning hell," should be totally absent from the Bible?

Millions of churchgoers have sat in church hearing graphic descriptions of heaven. They have heard tear-jerking stories of the death of saintly elderly persons; visions of heaven, last-moment death-bed repentances, and stories of people who have gazed upward as they died and said they saw The Messiah coming!

But for all this gingerbread and euphoria around the edges of the subject, these same church-going people have never in their lives sat down at a lengthy Bible study or church service where they heard a minister wade through dozens of scriptures in the Bible promising heaven as the reward of the saved!

They have heard vague allusions from only a few scriptures which are capable of several interpretations!

But they have never heard a patient, careful, well-organized, thorough Bible study or sermon proving from the Bible that heaven is the reward of the saved!

Why haven't they?

Simply because it cannot be proved!

Why Did Christ Teach the Resurrection?

Why did The Messiah continually speak of a resurrection? He said,

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of The Eternal: and they that hear shall live" (John 5:25).

He described those who were in their graves, dead, knowing nothing, at the time of the second coming of Christ. "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the grave shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation" ["judgment," margin] (John 5:28-29).

These scriptures plainly refer to a future event. The Messiah spoke of a general resurrection from the dead, which He called a resurrection "of life. " He clearly spoke of the opposite of death. He spoke of life.

The Eternal's word says "The dead know not anything," and "The memory of them is forgotten. " David, in the Psalms, explains that death is a completely mindless state—an absence of knowledge and awareness.

Solomon, David's son, explained that men die a death exactly as do beasts (Ecclesiastes 3:19). He said "Yea they all have one breath. "

The Eternal's Word reveals that human beings live a physical, chemical existence. We are mortal, temporary, transitory creatures; sustained by the material elements of this physical creation. We are water-drinking, air-breathing, food-ingesting creatures whose life is dependent solely upon our bloodstream and the foods (as fuel) we take into our systems.

When we die, a total cessation of this physical, chemical existence occurs. Death is the absence of life. The Bible describes those who go down into their graves as being just as dead as any animal is dead!

But The Messiah spoke of a time when they will be raised up to life! Notice, He did not describe a supposed "immortal soul" being placed back into a formerly dead, decayed body!

Read the entire fifteenth chapter of 1 Corinthians. This is called the "resurrection chapter." In this marvelous portion of scripture are found some of the most important and plainest doctrines of the Word of The Eternal. Not only is the resurrection described in great detail, but even "foolish questions" are answered. Continually, people think they have discovered a question too difficult even for The Eternal. They will relate, tiresomely, the devouring of bodies buried at sea by sharks.

Then they describe how the sharks are finally caught by a fisherman, and their livers sold in the market. They then say that some other human being eats the shark's liver, and therefore a portion of the bodies of the dead, by providing fuel for a shark's stomach, being absorbed into its body and becoming a part of its liver, now becomes a part of the body of another living person! So how does The Eternal solve the problem, they ask?

They will describe what happens when people are fused into nothingness in an atomic explosion, burnt in a crematorium and their ashes scattered over the mountains, in the air, or at sea; or even puzzle endlessly over what happens to those who died centuries ago where even the bones themselves have turned to nothing but dust.

To such questing minds, it seems impossible for The Eternal to "resurrect" the body that was. The Apostle Paul shows these are "foolish questions," and answers them thoroughly in the famous "resurrection chapter" of 1 Corinthians 15.

"But some man will say, how are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or some other grain: But The Eternal giveth it a body as it hath pleased Him, and to every seed His own body. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption: it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness: it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body" (1 Corinthians 15:35-44).

Notice first that the Apostle Paul refers to carnal human reasonings about just how The Eternal is going to bring back an utterly corrupted and decayed human body as a question proposed by a fool.

Then, He shows that through the unlimited miracle working power of The Eternal a completely corrupt, dishonorable, natural body which can waste away to become fused once again with the elements of this earth ("dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return") is to be resurrected as a spirit being!

"Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual ... and as we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of The Eternal; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality! " (1 Corinthians 15:46-53).

You need to read all of this marvelously revealing chapter in your own Bible. Read it slowly, accept it on face value, as it is, and believe it as the very Word of The Eternal!

If you do, you will never again be confused about the resurrection of the dead.

This revealing chapter plainly shows that, at death, your physical, temporal bodies, sustained in a chemical existence by the natural elements of this earth; food, water, and air, completely cease to function, and that total unconsciousness and oblivion results!

Not only is there a complete cessation of life—there is total loss of consciousness!

Then, within moments after death, the physical body begins to decay.

This beautiful fifteenth chapter of 1 Corinthians explains that no matter how rapidly that decaying process (whether being blown to bits in an atomic explosion or slowly decaying in a normal grave) The Eternal is capable of completely re-creating a new spirit life, giving the individual a brand-new spirit body!

The Apostle Paul went to great pains to explain it is not the old, decaying, "corrupted" body which is raised, but a spiritual body.

There are literally dozens of scriptures in the Bible which speak of a great resurrection.

Notice another of the most important. "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of The Messiah, and for the Word of The Eternal, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished [this is the first resurrection]. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of The Eternal and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years" (Revelation 20:4-6).

Just as The Messiah spoke of a resurrection to "life" and a resurrection to judgment," so this revealing scripture shows the dead in Christ being resurrected at the second coming of Christ, and then reigning with The Messiah for a thousand years, while "the rest of the dead, " (those who were never converted), remain totally oblivious to all this passage of time until after the thousand years are over!

You see, beginning in verse II to the end of chapter 20, the picture of the "great white throne judgment," or the great latter-day resurrection of perhaps billions of human beings who will then be given an opportunity for salvation!

Read the 37th chapter of Ezekiel in the light of the last part of Revelation 20.

The famous "dry bones" of Ezekiel's prophecy are stated to be "the whole house of Israel" (verse 2) who are to be resurrected."

The Eternal says "Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am the Eternal when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves. And shall put my spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall you know that I the Eternal have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Eternal" (Ezekiel 37:12-14).

Here again, you see two opposites: death, complete unconsciousness—human bodies by the millions decaying, forgotten in their graves—In contrast to a great future resurrection to life even after the millennial reign of The Messiah!

Time and again, the Bible speaks of the first resurrection at the precise instant of the second coming of Christ!

In this regard, study carefully one of the cherished scriptures used by proponents of the "hope of heaven" doctrine.

Turn to 1 Thessalonians 4, commencing to read with verse 13. "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that The Messiah died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in The Messiah will The Eternal bring with Him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent [precede] them which are asleep. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of The Eternal: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. "

This text is used over and over again to imply that Christians go to heaven!

Search the scriptures again, however, and you will see this scripture says nothing about going to heaven!

What does it say?

It says both the "dead in Christ (who have been completely dead, oblivious, unconscious of the passage of time in their graves) and the living Christians will "be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air..."

This does not say "up in heaven!" It says "in the clouds."

Clouds are as much a part of this earth as the oceans, the mountains, or anything else composed of matter.

While you may think of clouds as not being literally composed of matter, if they were not particulate matter, they would be invisible, and you could not see them. Even so, the air itself is, in practical fact, "material," meaning it occupies space, has weight, is subjected to certain rigid and unalterable laws, and is composed of a wide variety of gases.

Our "atmosphere" is a thin envelope of life-supporting gases which are held close to the surface of the earth by gravity. Living plants produce oxygen, which is necessary for human and animal survival.

Clouds are merely vapor, formed by condensation and the forming of tiny ice particles when moisture-laden air is subjected to changes in pressure and temperature.

Most jet air travel is well above the majority of all clouds. Certainly, all of the orbital satellites are far above the clouds, and yet are held in an orbital pattern above the earth, established by the pull of gravity.

When the Bible speaks of The Messiah returning to this earth it plainly reveals He is coming all the way back down, just as He left.

Read, in the first chapter of Acts, of the very first message ever to come back down from heaven after The Messiah ascended to His Father:

"And when He [The Messiah] had spoken these things, while they [the disciples] beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same The Messiah, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven" (Acts 1:9-11).

They watched The Messiah being enveloped in the clouds only a very few hundred feet above their heads! The Messiah would have been completely invisible if He were only a very few thousand feet from them! The scripture plainly shows He was still visible until clouds obscured Him from their view.

That meant the clouds had to be quite low on this occasion!

The Bible then says He will come back to this earth, "in like manner" as they saw Him go into heaven!

Turn back to 1 Thessalonians 4 and read the passage quoted again.

Notice what it does not say. It does not say anything whatsoever about "going to heaven." It says nothing whatsoever about "an immortal soul"!

Rather, as plainly corroborated by many other scriptures, it shows the resurrection of the dead in Christ, and the instantaneous change (1 Corinthians 15:50-52) of those who are "alive and remain," to be caught up together as one group "in the clouds," and finally concludes by saying "… and so shall we ever be with the Lord. And where will the Lord be on that same day?

Remember, He is coming back. He is not merely going to "visit the general vicinity" of the earth, catching away saints in a so-called "rapture" and take them off to heaven!

Notice the proof, from your own Bible!

"Behold the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoils shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the Eternal go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle. And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south" (Zechariah 14:1-4).

The setting of this prophecy is the day of the Lord. The day of the Lord is that period of time immediately following the heavenly signs of Revelation 7, and the first five "seals" of Revelation 6, or the great tribulation prophesied by The Messiah in Matthew 24.

The gathering of all nations against Jerusalem to battle is the same great battle depicted in Revelation 19:11-21.

Here, John sees the heavens opened in vision, and The Messiah sitting on a white horse, followed by heavenly armies, returning to this earth to "smite the nations" and "rule them with a rod of iron. "

In the vision, John said he "saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him that sat on the horse, and against His army." And describes the destruction of both the beast and the false prophet on the very same day of the second coming of The Messiah.

What will happen after the dead in Christ and the living Christians are caught up together to meet the returning Christ in the air?

The Bible says "And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives! "

They are gathered from all nations, taken by powerful angels to meet The Messiah as He returns directly to the Mount of Olives, and so descend with Him to Jerusalem!

Notice! "And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together the elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other" (Matthew 24:30-3 1).

Notice again the description of The Messiah returning to this earth!

The false doctrine of Christians "going to heaven" would make completely unnecessary any second coming of Christ. If "souls" were already "in heaven" from the time they died, then why should Christ come back? Why should such "souls" be taken from heaven, placed back into decayed bodies, resurrected, and then the whole process of deciding where they belong begun all over again?

The false doctrine of the "immortality of the soul" and Christians "going to heaven" does away with the second coming of Christ—which is the greatest prophesied event in the Bible!

No, "souls" do not go to heaven—neither do people. Christ is coming back to this earth. He is coming all the way back; coming with clouds, to catch the converted righteous up into the air with Him, take them to a place just above Jerusalem, and then, "His feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives" in that same day!

Obviously, these many biblical proofs of the second coming of Christ utterly negate the false doctrine of souls going to heaven.

Now, let's notice some of Christ's parables about His coming kingdom; about the fact it will be set up on this literal earth, and see some of the prophecies about conditions on the earth during the millennium.

Read again the parable of the pounds and the talents. One example is found in Matthew 25:14-30, and another in Luke 19:12-27.

In each case, those who overcome are promised of The Messiah rulership over cities!

In the parable of the talents (Matthew 25), The Messiah says, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord."

In the case of the parable of the pounds (Luke 19) The Messiah says, "Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities" (Luke 19:17).

Do these plain words of your Savior "fit" into the traditional teaching you have always heard—perhaps just taken for granted? Anything about "heaven" here? No, but rulership over cities, occupied by human beings, during the 1,000- year reign of Christ on earth is offered to those who are living a life of overcoming—of qualifying for such positions!

Notice! "And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father" (Revelation 2:26, 27).

There is no way to "spiritualize" these plain words away! The Messiah means exactly what He says! Those who are living a life of overcoming the pulls and tugs of human nature; the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-2 1) and who qualify will be given actual power and authority over cities, counties, states, and whole nations! Do you remember what The Messiah said to His disciples just prior to His crucifixion? "...Verily I say unto you, that ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel! (Matthew 19:28).

The Messiah says that even those who live in this day can have an opportunity for co-rulership in His new government which is to be set up on this earth after His second coming!

"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne" (Revelation 3:21).

The Messiah is coming to inherit a literal throne! That throne is on this earth. How many little children have memorized the following words at "Christmas-time," repeating the enunciation by the angel to Mary concerning the birth of The Messiah, and not known what they said?

"And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with The Eternal. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a Son, and shalt call His name The Messiah. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord The Eternal shall give unto Him the throne of His father David; and He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end!" (Luke 1:30-33).

The Eternal made a binding covenant with David, telling him because David remained faithful to The Eternal's laws and precepts that there would never fail seed from David's own family to sit upon His physical throne! Believe it or not, that throne still exists on this earth!

Read the prophecy of Daniel's second chapter, where you see, after the description of the four great successive world-ruling Gentile kingdoms, a "stone cut out without hands" which smites the image on its feet [the ten toes representing the ten kings of Revelation 17] and which then "becomes a great mountain and fills the whole earth."

Clearly, in this prophecy, the figurative stone represents the returning, conquering Christ! The great image represents the successive stages of the Gentile world-ruling kingdoms, culminating in the BEAST depicted in Daniel 7, and Revelation 13 and 17.

The ten kings which fight Christ at His coming (Revelation 17) are represented by the ten toes of the great image, mixed with iron and miry clay.

The "great mountain" is symbolic of the Kingdom of The Eternal which will rule over the entirety of the earth!

The Eternal's Kingdom to Rule on Earth

There is voluminous evidence in the Bible that the Kingdom of The Eternal will reign on this earth!

Let's notice just a few of the more outstanding proofs.

"But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the House of the Eternal shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people [physical human beings will still be alive on the earth during that day!] shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Eternal, and to the House of the The Eternal of Jacob and He will teach us of His ways and we will walk in His paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the Word of the Eternal from Jerusalem. And He shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Eternal of Hosts has spoken it" (Micah 4:1-4).

Here, you see the symbol of the Kingdom of The Eternal established over all the other nations, greater and lesser!

Then you see representative ambassadors from all countries on earth agreeing, finally, to come to The Eternal's headquarters' city in Jerusalem, learning of the ways of The Eternal; learning to keep His laws, learning to convert weapons of war into implements of peace!

Here is a graphic description of The Eternal finally forcing upon mankind the ways of peace, happiness, prosperity, bounteous joy!

Ugly, death-dealing tanks will be smelted down, and turned into farming implements. There will be no "war colleges," or military academies, teaching the "art" of war!

Notice a parallel scripture: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's House shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the House of the The Eternal of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more" (Isaiah 2:2-4).

Again, we see the complete rehabilitation of the earth. It is the time of "restitution" of all things (Acts 3:21). A time for reconstruction, reeducation; a time for global revolution, when those who are born of The Eternal by a resurrection from the dead, are changed instantaneously (as you learned in 1 Corinthians 15) and who have become members of the very family of The Eternal, will join The Messiah in positions of leadership and rulership over the human, physical remnants of the great global holocaust that is sure to come!

But mankind will survive! (Matthew 24:21, 22).

Christ will return to this physical earth, and will grant positions of responsibility and rulership to those who have truly qualified to be members of His kingdom! Notice a description of conditions extant on earth after Christ has begun to rule: "But with righteousness shall He judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and He shall smite the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of His loins, and faithfulness the girdle of His reins. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and His rest shall be glorious. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set His hand again the second time to recover the remnant of His people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And He shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth" (Isaiah 11:4-12).

It is impossible to misinterpret or misunderstand this plain scripture! Obviously, the "rod out of the stem of Jesse" (Jesse was David's father and therefore of the lineage of Christ) and a "Branch" which was to grow out of his roots is a metaphorical reference to The Messiah.

Read verse 2, "And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Eternal."

Commencing with verse 4, you see the description of the righteous judgments of The Messiah returning to this earth as the conquering King of kings and Lord of lords (read Revelation 19).

Immediately following, you see the conditions which shall become extant over all the earth during the millennial reign of The Messiah!

Are there wolves, lions, oxen and poisonous snakes up in heaven? Nonsense!

Here, you see a description of the "time of restitution of all things" of which Peter prophesied immediately following the day of Pentecost, and the birthday of the Church. Peter said, "And He shall send The Messiah [predicting The Messiah' second coming!], which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive UNTIL the times of restitution of all things [the restoring of everything], which The Eternal hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began" (Acts 3:20, 21).

The very nature of animals shall be changed!

Read the entire passage slowly and carefully. You need no one to "interpret" what it says, or attempt to change its meaning! Clearly, this is a detailed description of conditions to become extant on this earth immediately after the second coming of The Messiah, and in the first years of His Kingdom!

Here, many of the nations of the earth, identified by their ancient names, are mentioned. The Eternal says He will regather the second time the remnant of His people from nations all over the earth, and from the "islands [coastlands] of the sea."

Heavenly Retirement, or Hard Work?

Does it make any sense to you? What if our young men just entering the army, navy or marines, underwent six weeks of primary training, then several months of additional training, literally transforming them from civilians into military men, skilled in the use of modern weapons and military equipment, only to have their drill instructor announce to them on the moment of their graduation from "boot camp" or primary training: "Well, men, that's it! You have all done a marvelous job. You have become skilled through the rigors of physical exercise, weapons handling, running obstacle courses, learning close-order drill and the Manual of Arms. Now, you are full-fledged military men! Now, it is time for all of you to retire! "

Sounds ludicrous, when put that way, doesn't it?

Yet, The Messiah said "It is through much tribulation we must enter the Kingdom of The Eternal." And promised His true servants "In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world! " (John 16:33). Peter cried out, "If the righteous scarcely be saved, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of The Eternal?" (1 Peter 4:17).

In the sermon on the mount, The Messiah described the way into His soon-coming Kingdom as the "strait," meaning difficult route! The way that leads to destruction He described as a broad, well-lit avenue with glittering lights and dazzling attractions. But the way into His Kingdom He described as rutty, rocky, narrow, winding, and extremely difficult!

Frequently, the Bible uses the analogy of military service when speaking of Christians. The seal of the Garner Ted Armstrong Evangelistic Association shows a helmet, breastplate, and crossed swords, with a quotation from Ephesians 6:11-18, which says, in part, "Put on the whole armour of The Eternal ... having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith ... the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of The Eternal."

The Apostle Paul urged Timothy to perform "as a good soldier of The Messiah" (2 Timothy 2:3).

On another occasion, Paul said, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through The Eternal to the pulling down of strongholds... " (2 Corinthians 10:4).

The Messiah said, "To him that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron... " (Revelation 2:26, 27).

The Eternal uses these analogies to show Christians that they are involved in training, and in a kind of warfare, as if professional soldiers.

A Christian is one who is continually overcoming; learning, studying, growing, gaining wisdom, knowledge, patience, love, and humility! A Christian is fighting (1 Corinthians 9:26), but fighting Satan the devil, and resisting the pulls of human nature, not fighting physical enemies with guns and bullets!

This human life is a vast training ground for the Kingdom of The Eternal!

It is "boot camp"—primary training—for those who are to finally graduate into the very Kingdom and Family of The Eternal, to become qualified to RULE the world with The Messiah!

The Christian life has great PURPOSE! The Eternal is working out a PLAN here below! Yet, millions fail to see that great purpose they remain ignorant of The Eternal's plan in their lives!

Nowhere does the Bible preach "Christian retirement"! Think of it! Does not much of the music, many of the sermons, and a great deal of so-called "Christian" teaching portray an eternity of idleness and ease; of beatific bliss and indolent delight?

Do not the envisionary "heavens" of many of the other religions of the world picture virtually the same thing? One thinks of the song "The Lazy Ole Sun Got Nothin' to do But Roll Around Heaven All Day," in this context. Reference to the "heavenly rocking chair" and "heavenly mansions" are liberally sprinkled through some of the mythological teachings of professing Christianity.

But the truth of The Eternal is far different!

The truth is that Almighty The Eternal is calling a cadre of individuals (and not all the world is being called NOW!) as the advance emissaries of His soon-coming Kingdom! Even as The Messiah called only twelve disciples and formed them into the nucleus of His "group of called-out ones" or His "church" (which more properly should be translated "assembly" in modern English), so that SAME The Messiah is calling out a select group whom He calls "the very elect" (Matthew 24:22) for rigorous training to qualify to become future WORLD RULERS with Him!

Does anyone really comprehend the awe-inspiring breadth and scope of The Eternal's great plan and purpose?

The churches simply do not teach it! What church teaches that its members are now qualifying to become city managers, mayors, ambassadors, princes, presidents, premiers and prime ministers, KINGS in the world to come? But city managers, mayors and premiers with a difference! That difference is being imbued with a divine power of ALMIGHTY The Eternal!

Future leaders in Christ's soon-coming Kingdom will not be hampered by years-long "studies" by vested interests and government-paid bureaucrats. Decisions involving hygiene, transportation, civil justice, the environment, care for the elderly, etc., etc., will not be hampered and bogged down by years of committee studies, city council meetings, voting and elections, court trials, referendums and lawsuits! Rather, those who will rule with The Messiah will have wisdom far exceeding that of Solomon; the very love and mercy of The Messiah; with which they will be able to rule forcibly, swiftly, in mercy and righteousness, but with sternness and POWER where necessary!

After all, it is here on earth where the problems are!

There are no "problems" to solve in heaven! Almighty The Eternal is not calling a group to be put through rigorous training, overcoming and growing in the knowledge and love of The Messiah; fighting themselves; having their very human nature changed from that of jealousy, lust, avarice and greed to the character of The Messiah of love, goodness, meekness, mercy, kindness and understanding, in order to retire!

Instead, The Messiah promises CO-RULERSHIP WITH HIM!

"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne!" (Revelation 3:21).

John, in vision, wrote, "And I looked, and lo, a Lamb [Christ] stood on the Mount Zion [which is in Jerusalem, on this earth!] and with Him an hundred and forty and four thousand, having His Father's name written in their foreheads ... these were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto The Eternal and to the Lamb! " (Revelation 14:1-4).

Is it possible YOU are being called, now, to become one of those comparatively few individuals? Could The Eternal, actually, be performing the miracle of opening your mind to see His TRUTH?

Millions around you are in spiritual darkness. The big churches and major denominations do not teach these simple truths from the Word of The Eternal! The millions believe they are "going to heaven" when they die; believe in an immortal soul, and an ever-burning hell!

Great Tribulation & The Secret Rapture

On January 15, 2011, in Heaven, by Milton Carnes

Matthew 24:27 (King James Version)

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. (Notice the correlation with Luke 17:37 above)

Matthew 24:37-42 (King James Version)

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Master doth come.

There is no secret rapture, but the Second Coming of Christ!

Will The Church Be Taken Away or Raptured Before The Tribulation Begins?

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17

15 For this we say unto you by the word of The Most High, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of The Messiah shall not prevent them which are asleep. (I thought we were raptured away before the tribulation!)

16 For The Messiah himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of The Most High: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet The Messiah in the air: and so shall we ever be with The Messiah.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (King James Version)

51 Behold I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we
shall all be changed,

52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

The Great Tribulation

Matthew 24: 21-22 (King James Version)

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. (Which means we have to be here in order for those to be shortened)

Revelation 3:10 (King James Version)

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Matthew 24:29-31 (King James Version)

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Zechariah 14

1 Behold, the day of The Messiah cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then shall The Messiah go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the The Messiah my Mighty One shall come, and all the saints with him.

What are the sequence of events?

1. The Messiah will come in the clouds
2. The dead in The Messiah will rise first
3. Those alive will be gathered from the four corners of the earth
4. Everyone will be changed in the twinkling of an eye
5. Everyone changed will meet The Messiah in the air.
6. The Messiah will proceed to Jerusalem to do battle
7. The Saints are with him
8. The Messiah's feet will stand on the mount of olives in that day
9. A battle ensues between The Messiah and the nations

HalleluYah!

Absent From The Body

On January 15, 2011, in Heaven, by Milton Carnes

"Willing Rather To Be Absent From The Body, And To Be Present With The Most High." 2 Corinthians 5:8

A literal translation of 2 Corinthians 5:8 from the Greek Interlinear Bible "Yet we are encouraged and we are delighting rather to be away from home out of the body (of Christ or Paul's physical body) and to be at home toward The Master"

As usual, Paul's words are very hard to understand if you do not know the truth. What is truth?

John 17:17 (New King James Version)
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

1 John 5:6 (New King James Version)

6 This is He who came by water and blood—The Messiah; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.

Psalm 119:151 (New King James Version)

151 You are near, O YHWH (YAH), And all Your commandments are truth.

Psalm 119:142 (New King James Version)

142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.

John 8:31-32 (New King James Version)

31 Then The Messiah said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

If you eliminate truth, then you eliminate The Word (The Messiah), The Law, and The Commandments. We all know that sin is breaking of the law according to 1 John 3:4

1 John 3:4 (New King James Version)

4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

If there is no law then that means that there is no sin in this world which means there is no need for The Word (The Messiah) to save us from our sins.

Absent from the body and present with The Most High is the cause of much confusion.

2 Peter 3:16, states that "some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."

Was Paul talking about the soul leaving the body to be with The Most High in heaven?

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 (New King James Version)

9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of The Messiah, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

What does this mean?

So what did Paul mean when he said "absent from the body?" If we read the entire context, we see that Paul had a strong desire to be made immortal.

As long as Paul remained mortal, he would be subject to the consequences of sin, and its suffering and pain, that would eventually lead to death.

Paul looked forward to the establishment of the Kingdom of The Most High on this earth. He hoped that he would be accepted at the judgment of The Messiah, and that he would be gain immortality.

Paul spoke about being absent from the body in his second letter to the Corinthians. In his first letter, he had revealed certain truths about the body. These truths must be taken into consideration when we study Paul's difficult teachings.

In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul spoke in detail about the resurrection of the body.

This resurrection is our only hope for life beyond the grave. Paul taught plainly that if there was no resurrection, our faith was vain and those who have fallen asleep in The Messiah are perished. (1 Cor.15:13-23)

When The Messiah died and was in the grave for three days and three nights, his flesh did not see corruption (Psalm 16:10). It was the power of The Most High that brought him back to life. (Romans 1:4, Hebrews 13:20)

If this was a great miracle, then think how much power will be used to resurrect the saints of old at the return of The Messiah. Their natural bodies have long been corrupted in the grave, and all that remains is their dust in the ground.

The Resurrection of The Dead

1 Corinthians 15:35-49 (New King James Version)

35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?”

36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.

37 And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain.

38 But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.

39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh[a] of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.

40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.

43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.

44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.

47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is Our Master from heaven.

48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.

49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

Paul understood and taught that there is a difference between the natural body that we have now, and the spiritual body into which we are changed at the coming of The Messiah. Paul yearned to be present with our savior, but he also knew that this would happen at the last trump and not immediately after you die. Pay attention to his words from 1 Corinthians 15:51-55.

1 Corinthians 15:51-55 (New King James Version)

51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—

52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

55 “ O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”

Ezekiel 18:20 "The soul that sinneth, it shall die."

Is the soul already immortal but separate from the body?

The immortality of the soul is not taught nor can it be found in the Bible. This is why Paul and Peter both warned of these false teachings that would distort the truth of the gospel.

2 Timothy 4:3-4

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

2 Peter 2:1

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying The Most High that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction ."

The greatest lie ever told was in the Garden of Eden

Genesis 2:17 (New King James Version)

The Most High said, (Verse 17) but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

But the serpent said, (Genesis 3:4) Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die"

Isn't this the same lie is being preached by many that man has a soul that never truly dies? When you die you will go to heaven or hell, but you really never die!

Geneis 2:7

"And The Most High formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

Dust + Breath of Life = Living Soul
Dust - Breath of Life = No Living Soul
Breath of Life - Dust = No Living Soul

From the beginning, "What is a soul?" Let's look up the word soul ….

Revelation 2:7 (New King James Version)

7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of The Most High.”

Currently, immortality is possessed only by:

The Most High
1 Timothy 6:15-16

The Messiah
1 Corinthians 15;22-23

The Angels
Luke 20:35-36

Plus, the Messiah said from John 3:13 (New King James Version)

13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

Back to Paul’s writings:
2 Corinthians 12:3

"And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: The Most High knows;)

To understand Paul's "absent from the body and present with The Most High", we must consider some of his other experiences. In 2 Corinthians 12:1-10, Paul tells about receiving a vision of the Kingdom.

The vision was so real that he WAS NOT able to tell whether he was transported bodily to the Kingdom period, or whether his mind was being influenced while in a trance. He must have wondered if he was dreaming, or was he actually taken into the future?

Paul was caught up to the third heaven and caught up into paradise.

It is evident that the entire plan of The Most High is centered around the sacrifice of The Messiah, which would take away the sin and make it possible for men to return to the garden restored, the paradise in Eden. In the Kingdom, the entire earth will gradually become a paradise, filled with the glory of The Most High.

After Paul's vision of the Kingdom of The Most High, He was seriously afflicted in his natural body to help him control his pride. This "thorn in his flesh" would increase his appreciation for his future hope; the resurrection. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10).

Paul died in faith of the resurrection, with a strong desire to be found worthy to be present with The Most High in the same Kingdom that he had visited in his vision.

Lastly, Job 19:25-26 (New King James Version)

25 For I know that my Redeemer lives,And He shall stand at last on the earth;

26 And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,That in my flesh I shall see The Most High,

Paul’s Writings Are Hard To Understand

On January 10, 2011, in Bible Lessons, by Milton Carnes

Paul’s writings are very difficult to understand for those that believe that the Mosaic Laws (The Creator’s Laws) are done away with and we do not have to keep or obey them.

2 Peter 3:14-18 (The Message)

14-16 So, my dear friends, since this is what you have to look forward to, do your very best to be found living at your best, in purity and peace. Interpret our Master's patient restraint for what it is: salvation. Our good brother Paul, who was given much wisdom in these matters, refers to this in all his letters, and has written you essentially the same thing. Some things Paul writes are difficult to understand. Irresponsible people who don't know what they are talking about twist them every which way. They do it to the rest of the Scriptures, too, destroying themselves as they do it.

17-18 But you, friends, are well-warned. Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking teachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Yahusha The Messiah.

Matthew 7 (King James Version)

[21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

What is iniquity?

Iniquity comes from the root word:

The law done away with? I think not, for sin is transgression of law.

1 John 3:4 (King James Version)Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

“Is Speaking In Tongues A Hoax?”

On January 10, 2011, in Bible Lessons, by Milton Carnes

SPEAKING IN UNKNOWN TONGUES
By L. Ray Smith
http://Bible-truth.com

A given Spiritual Manifestation of the SPIRIT? Or, a Carnal Physical Display of the FLESH?

Million of Pentecostals and Charismatics (not to mention other Protestant and Catholic tongues speakers) claim to possess a gift from The Most High, which enables them to "speak in unknown tongues." What is the Scriptural truth regarding this popular doctrine which is claimed to be a primary proof that one either does or does not posses The Most High’s Holy Spirit?

That there are millions of such sincere people desirous of worshiping The Most High in truth as they understand it, I have no doubt. However, the truth will always set us free, so shouldn't we desire the truth at all cost? Is it possible that what appears to many on the surface to be a marvelous blessing from The Most High, is in reality nothing more than a physical display of the carnal flesh? It behooves all tongues-speakers to read this paper carefully and prayerfully, with an open mind and an open Bible. If modern tongue-talking is not of The Most High, then those who do it are not free, but in bondage, and as such will never be free or grow in The Most High’s Truth.

TRYING THE SPIRITS

I John 4:1 tells us:

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but TRY THE SPIRITS whether they are of The Most High: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

Notice that we are to "try the spirits" because there are "false prophets" in the world. Therefore, it is axiomatic that the words of these false prophets are also false. What then are "true spirits"?

"Sanctify them through Your [the Father’s] truth: YOUR WORD IS TRUTH" (John 17:17).

Next, where did The Messiah get His "words?"

"Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The WORDS that I speak unto you I speak not of Myself, but the Father that dwells in Me, he does the works" (John 14:10).

So the Father’s words are truth, and The Messiah speaks the Father’s words. Now notice what kind of words The Messiah speaks:

"It is the spirit that quickens [gives life]; the flesh profits nothing: the WORDS that I speak unto you, THEY [the ‘words’] ARE SPIRIT, and they are life" (John 6:63).

And so we try the spirits by testing the words of Messiah against those of the prophets to see whether the words of a prophet are true or false. THAT, my friends is how we try the spirits, not by looking into someone’s eyes to see if they are demon possessed or not.

One more important point we want to make in trying the spirits by using Messiah’s words of spirit, and that is to see whether the Apostles spoke these same spirit words of truth.

Here is the admonition of Paul regarding how and what we teach:

"If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to the wholesome words, even the WORDS OF OUR MASTER, and to the doctrine which is according to The Most High; he is proud, knowing nothing" (I Tim. 6:3-4).

By using the words of the Apostles and the words of Messiah, we will be using the very words of the Father, and against these SPIRIT WORDS can be tried all spirits—all prophets. With this simple and profound principle firmly in mind, let us proceed to try the spirits of tongue-talkers.

THE ONLY THREE EXAMPLES OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES

Of the 20 times "tongues" is used with reference to a gift from The Most High, there are only three examples of anyone actually speaking in another language:

[1] "And they were all [the 120 disciples of Messiah] filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues [languages] as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own LANGUAGE.

And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak, Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue [language/dialect], wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and the strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of The Most High" (Acts 2:7-11).

Keep in mind that they spoke of: "the wonderful works of The Most High"

[2] "For they heard them [the Gentile house of Cornelius] speak with tongues, and magnify The Most High" (Acts 10:46).

Keep in mind that they heard: "The Most High magnified"

[3] "And when Paul had laid his hands upon them [Gentile Ephesians], the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke with tongues [languages], and prophesied" (Acts 19:6).

Keep in mind that they: "prophesied—that’s inspired speaking from The Most High"

There are no other examples of anyone supernaturally speaking in a language, in all Scripture. Also, let it be known that there is no known proof of any persons since the time of these miracles in the first century Church of Messiah, speaking in any of these above mentioned languages, or any other known modern language in which they had no prior formal training.

CLARIFYING SOME VERY IMPORTANT WORDS

The King James term "unknown tongue" is itself part of the confusion over understanding this doctrine.

First, the word "unknown":

Is there even such a thing as an "unknown" tongue in the Scriptures? No, there isn’t. Although most modern translations have dropped the word "unknown" from the phrase "unknown tongue," the King James retains it, and is therefore still looked upon as authority for the use of this unscriptural term.

The erroneous term "unknown tongue" is used but six times in the King James (I Cor. 14:2, 4, 13, 14, 19, & 27), and in every instance, the word, unknown is in italics signifying that the original Greek manuscripts did not contain this or any such word. It was erroneously added by the translators and should be taken out. It only adds more confusion to this little-understood doctrine.

Hence, in our discussion we will not be using this unscriptural word.

Second, the words "tongue & tongues":

The word translated both "tongue" and "tongues" is the Greek word glossa and aside from meaning the organ of the body used in speaking, it means "a language." It is used in the plural (tongues), with reference to supernaturally speaking in a language (a foreign language), a total of 20 times, but only in Acts and I Corinthians. Where glossa is not a supernatural gift, it is clearly used to represent a known language, as in Rev. 10:11, 13:7 & 17:15 where some combination of "…peoples, and multitudes, and nations and tongues [Gk: glossa—languages]…" is used.

So, in our discussion we will use the proper translation, "language or languages," in place of the archaic and somewhat ambiguous term "tongue."

So clearly the disciples spoke in languages on Pentecost, and thereafter we have two examples of Gentiles speaking in languages. All remaining references to languages (as a gift from The Most High) are discussed by Paul in I Cor. 12, 13, and 14, and nowhere else.

(Note: the statement in Mark 16:17, which states in part: "…they shall speak with new tongues" is part of what is called, "The Longer Ending of Mark," and is not found among the oldest Greek Manuscripts. Others contain it, but make notation that it is "questionable." It is also clear that the Apostles did NOT speak with "NEW tongues" 50 days later on Pentecost, because we have this undeniable statement of Scripture stating that: "…we do hear them speak in OUR languages the wonderful words of The Most High").

Now we know that the languages of the Medes, Cretes, Asians, Elamites, Parthians, Egyptians, Arabians, etc., spoken on Pentecost were anything but "new tongues," as these tongues/languages are old as the hills). And we know that the Scriptures do not contradict, so it is absurd for any tongue-talkers to use this very questionable verse as justification for babbling something they may contend is a "new" or different kind of language promised by The Messiah.

THE PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLES FOR SPEAKING IN LANGUAGES

[1] Speaking in a language is ALWAYS a special sign for an unbeliever to hear a message in his own language, not a sign for believers:

"Wherefore languages are for a SIGN, not to them that believe, but to them that believe NOT…" (I Cor. 14:22).

[2] Speaking in a language must ALWAYS edify the Church:

"I would that you all spoke with languages, but rather that you prophesied [that means to give an inspired message of The Most High]: for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with languages, except he interpret, that the church may receive EDIFYING" (I Cor. 14:5).

[3] Speaking in a language ALWAYS requires that [a] no more than 2 or 3 speak on the same occasion, that they [b] speak one at a time, that there has already been someone selected who knows how to [c] interpret the languages to be spoken, and if no interpreter can be found, then they [d] cannot speak in the church:

"If any man speak in a language, let it be by two, or [a] at the most by three, and that [b] by course [one at a time], and [c] let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him [d] keep silence in the church" (I Cor. 14:27-28).

Keep these points in mind as we proceed through the Scriptures on this subject.

THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT VERSES A MORE EXCELLENT WAY

In I Cor. 12 we read of two lists of "spiritual gifts" from The Most High. And before listing them, Paul clearly tells us:

"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal" (Verse 7).

There must be a "profit" or "contribution to all" as the Greek bears out, from these gifts. As we will see conclusively proved from Scripture, speaking in a language is never ever to be a physical spectacle for self-aggrandizement of the flesh.

"For to one is given [not to ‘all’, but to certain ones only] by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit: To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy [inspired speaking]; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues [languages]; to another the interpretation" (I Cor. 12:8-10).

In verse 28 Paul gives us another list of gifts:

"And The Most High has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of languages."

WHAT ARE "DIVERSITIES OF LANGUAGES?"

I will now show you a truth that I doubt any have heard before, and yet it is right before our eyes, albeit hidden in the obscure translation of the King James Version.

Can we know for sure, just exactly WHAT these "diversities of languages were which Paul tells us are "the manifestation of the Spirit?" Is it even within the realm of possibility that the gift of these languages could be totally different languages than those spoken by the different nationalities around the world?

In I Cor. 12:4 we read of "diversities of gifts." In verse 6 we read of "diversities of operations." Both times the word "diversities" is translated from the Greek word diairesis, and it means "variety." And so the word "diversities" is a perfectly fine word to translate it.

But in I Cor. 12:10 we read of: "diverse kinds of languages." In verse 28 we read of: "diversities of languages." And in I Cor. 14:10 we read of: "many kinds of voices [sayings, languages]."

Now, get ready for this: All three words "kinds, diversities, & kinds" in the above three verses are from the same one Greek word (#1085, genos). Does the word "genos" have a familiar sound to you? How about words like "geno-cide," "gen-eration," "gen-ealogy," and "gen-ius," The English words "kind" and "diversities," do not at all convey the way that this word genos is used in Scripture.

Here is how Dr. Strong defines this word—#1085:

"genos, kin, born, country, diversity, generation, kind, nation, offspring, stock." (I underlined certain words in Strong’s definition for a profound purpose.

Here is how "context" translates the Greek word genos in other Scriptures:

Mark 7:26—"The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation [Gk: genos]…" In this verse it could have just correctly been translated "birth," but "diversity" or "kind" would never suit.

Acts 4:6—"And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred [Gk genos] of the high priest…" Again, "diversity" or "kind" would not suit in this verse.

Acts 4:36b—"…The son of consolation, a Levite, and of the country [Gk: genos] of Cyprus." "Diversity" or "kind" could never be used here.

II Cor. 11:26—"In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen [Gk: genos]…" These were real PEOPLE that Paul was in peril of.

Gal. 1:14—"And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation [Gk: genos]…" Here genos speaks of nation or nationality.

Rev. 22:16b—"I am the root and the offspring [Gk: genos] of Daivd…" Also "offspring" in Acts 17:28 & 29.

I Pet. 2:9—"But you are a chosen generation [Gk: genos], a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…" Notice the company that genos keeps in this verse: "generation, priesthood, nation, people."

Phil. 3:5—"Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock [Gk: genos] of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew…" Notice the company that genos keeps in this verse: the stock of the nation Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, of the much larger clan of Hebrews.

Surely a blind man can see that genos carries the primary connotation of that which deals with: "where we were born, our offspring, kindred, country, stock, countrymen, nation, and generation."

So just what "kinds," "diversities," and "kinds" (genos, genos, and genos) of languages is The Most High telling us of in I Cor. 12:10, 28 & 14:10? Is He speaking of hocus-pocus, idiotic, gibberish in unknown tongues? OF COURSE NOT.

And surely a blind man can see that this spiritual gift was a gift of "GENOS LANGUAGES"—The real, working, every day languages dealing with genos which is translated throughout the New Testament as: "where one was born, offspring, kindred, country, stock, countrymen, nation, and generation." Which languages would also have to include different dialects and regional jargons. An impossible task for any human, but no problem for the Spirit of The Most High.

This is why Paul boldly stated: "I thank my The Most High, I speak with languages MORE than ye all" (I Cor. 14:18). Paul traveled through dozens and dozens of villages, towns, cities and states, countries and kingdoms. He spoke with kings and peasants—among the very same "every nation under heaven" spoken of in Acts 2.

DO ALL SPEAK WITH LANGUAGES?

In I Cor. 12:29-30, we are told something amazing—something that totally contradicts the tongues-speakers claim that the gift of speaking in languages is absolutely necessary as a proof that one actually has The Most High’s Holy Spirit:

"Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with languages? Do all interpret?" (Verse 29-30).

Actually these are not even questions in the Greek, but rather statements of fact. Notice the following translations:

"Not all [are] Apostles. Not all [are] prophets, Not all [are] teachers. Not all [have] powers. Not all [have] the graces of healing. NOT all are speaking languages, Not all are interpreting" (Concordant Literal New Testament)

"All are not Apostles; all are not Prophets; all are not Teachers; all are not Powers; all have not Gifts of Cures; all do NOT speak in different Languages; all do not interpret" (Emphatic Diaglott).

There is no need to place a question mark after these statements of fact. Obviously not "all" are apostles, and likewise, "all do NOT speak in different languages."

And furthermore, Paul already told us in verses 8-10, that to ONE is given this gift and to ANOTHER a different gift, but not all get all the gifts. Speaking in a language is not the only sign of one having The Most High’s Holy Spirit.

Then after giving us two separate lists of spiritual gifts, Paul tell us this:

"But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you A MORE EXCELLENT WAY" (I Cor. 12:31).

What could be more excellent than any or all of these gifts of the Holy Spirit? Answer: LOVE!

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity [love] , I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I AM NOTHING. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profits me nothing.

Charity [love] suffers long [is patient], and is kind; charity envies not [is not jealous]; charity vaunts not itself [doesn’t brag or boast], is not puffed up, does not behave itself unseemly [not immoral], seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things [all The Most High’s Truths] hopes all things [that are promised in The Most High’s Word], endures all things. CHARITY NEVER FAILS…"

DID PAUL SPEAK THE LANGUAGES OF ANGELS?

And so, spiritual gifts are fine, but LOVE is the "MORE excellent way." Some, however, go so far as to suggest that the language that Paul and tongue-talkers speak is: "the tongues/languages… of angels" (Icor. 13:1). Paul absolutely never claimed to speak in any such thing as the "languages of angels." Here is what he said, and the reason I underlined it above:

"Though… I speak with the tongues [languages] of men AND ANGELS…"

Well we know that he did speak with the languages of men, but he adds, "AND angels," which he decidedly did not do, hence the word "though." The word "though" in this context means "suppose." It is a supposition, not a fact.

Paul also said, "though… I have… ALL knowledge," but did he? No."though I have… ALL faith," but did he? No. "though I… give my body to be BURNED" but did he? Obviously not—Paul was beheaded in Rome. And no, he never spoke with the languages of angels either—it was a hypothetical statement made to prove a point.

PAUL EXPLAINS THE PROPER USE OF THE GIFT OF LANGUAGES

"Follow after LOVE, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you may prophesy [speak under inspiration of The Most High’s Spirit]. For he that speaks in a tongue speaks not unto men, but unto The Most High: for NO MAN UNDERSTANDS HIM; howbeit in the spirit he speaks mysteries" (I Cor. 14:1-2).

Paul told the Corinthians that [1] they should desire spiritual gifts, [2] for the purpose of prophesying, because [3] no one understands what he is saying if he speaks in a language. So is it a good thing to speak in a language if no one understands you? NO, of course not. Next Paul says, "BUT…" But what? If speaking in a language is not a good thing to do if no man understands what you are saying, then WHAT IS GOOD? Well, Paul answers:

"BUT he that prophesies [is inspired of The Most High to speak in the language of the congregation] speaks unto men to EDIFICATION, and EXHORTATION, and COMFORT [consolation]" (Ver. 3).

NOW THAT’S A GOOD THING TO DO!

Paul continues in Verse 4:

"He that speaks in a tongue [language] edifies himself [well that’s a selfish thing to do!] BUT he that prophesies [is inspired to teach by The Most High’s Spirit in the language of the congregation] edifies THE CHURCH [now that’s the unselfish thing to do]."

Paul again admonishes them by saying:

"I would that you all spoke with tongues, BUT RATHER [here is Paul’s instructions as to HOW this gift is to be properly used] that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with languages, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying" (Verse 5).

Now Paul gives us the one "exception" clause which will put "speaking in a language" on equal footing with "prophesying"—that is inspired teaching in our own language. And what is that one thing that is absolutely necessary for speaking in a language to be acceptable in the congregation of The Most High’s Church? Someone must be able to INTERPRET what the person said in a foreign language. What if there is no interpreter present?

"But if there be no interpreter, LET HIM KEEP SILENCE IN THE CHURCH" (verse 28).

There you have it. Speaking in tongues is fine, IF, and only if, "except he INTERPRET" so that the whole church receives "edification, exhortation, and consolation." This teaching is clear. This teaching is simple. There is no misunderstanding Paul’s admonition. Yet how many will OBEY Paul’s admonition?

THE MESSAGE MUST BE UNDERSTANDABLE TO ALL

Next, notice what Paul instructs us in verse 6:

"Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with languages, what shall it profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?"

If your teaching is not by revelation, knowledge, prophesying, or doctrine, "what shall it profit you," Paul asks? Nothing else is acceptable. But is this what the tongue-speakers of the world are actually doing. Are they speaking to the entire congregation by "revelation, knowledge, prophesying, or doctrine," or are they babbling gibberish into the air, in which case NO ONE IS EDIFIED? And the whole endeavor is but an exhibition of the FLESH?

Paul continues:

"And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?" (Verses 7-8).

Having been in the Army for four years, let me explain this: If an army is preparing for battle, and they are all waiting for the trumpet to sound the charge, but instead, the trumpeter sounds "taps," then instead of charging the enemy, the army will GO TO SLEEP! It is necessary that the trumpet make the proper sound. Nor is preparation for battle the time for a trumpeter to be practicing on his horn. It is likewise, necessary for one who speaks in a language, to be understood.

Paul attempts to make it ever clearer:

"So likewise you, except you utter by the language words easy to understand, how shall it be known what is spoken? For you shall speak into the air" (Verse 9).

Is that the way you tongues-speakers wish to glorify your Lord and Saviour? By speaking nonsense into the air?

I have personally heard such nonsense on a couple of occasions. I wanted to experience this "tongue-talking" first hand. Twenty years ago I attended several weekly Sunday services in a very large Atlanta Pentecostal Church, which was replete with a full philharmonic orchestra. It was a beautiful church. And each week at least one person would burst out in an "unknown" tongue. I say, "unknown," for truly this was not the language of any people on this earth.

In each case, the lead Pastor pretended to interpret what the tongue-speaker had babbled. I acquired a tape of the day’s service, and I listen to both the speaker and the interpreter over and over, very carefully. The tongues-speaker started with a long rhythmical phrase which was precisely repeated several times throughout her exhibition. The Pastor then interpreted. He had a very precise interpretation for the first long rhythmical phrase, and although this same phrase repeated itself several more times, the Pastor never gave it the same interpretation as in the opening phrase. Hmmm?

Verse 10: "There are, it may be, so many kinds [Gk: genos] of voices [disclosure, saying, or language] in the world, and none of them is without signification [none is dumb or mute]. Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice [language], I shall be unto him that speaks [we speak in languages] a barbarian [foreigner], and he that speaks shall be a barbarian [foreigner] unto me."

This couldn’t be clearer. Paul is saying that if we don’t understand a language spoken to us by a foreigner to us, we become foreigners to each other.

Verse 12: "Even so [in the very same way] ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church."

All these gifts are all about edifying the church, not making a spectacle of ourselves, in our flesh.

Verse 13-14: "Wherefore let him that speaks in a language pray that he may interpret." For if [a supposition, not a fact, same as though in previous chapter] I pray in a language, my spirit prays, but my understanding [my mind] is UNFRUITFUL."

And Paul tells us to "have no fellowship with the UNFRUITFUL works of darkness" (Eph. 5:11). So even if one had the gift of languages, he should NOT speak without an interpretation, because it is "unfruitful" (ver. 14), it is just praying to "himself" (ver. 4), it does not "edify, exhort or comfort" (ver. 3), it is not "by revelation, knowledge, prophesying, or doctrine" (ver. 6), it is not a "distinct sound," (ver. 7), for one merely "speaks into the air," (ver. 9), you are like a "barbarian" to whom you speak (verse 11), therefore, "If there be no interpreter, let him keep SILENCE in the Church…"

Verse 15: "What is it then? [How should it be done?]. I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding [the mind] also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding [the mind] also. Else when you shall bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupies the room of the unlearned [uninformed] say A-men at your giving of thanks, seeing he understands NOT WHAT YOU SAY? For you verily give thanks well [that is if you truly are speaking in a foreign language, and not just some gibberish] but the other is NOT EDIFIED."

There is just no Scriptural excuse for speaking or praying at a church service in a language if there is NO INTERPRETER PRESENT—YOU ARE NOT TO DO IT.

Verse 18: "I thank my The Most High, I speak with languages more than ye all."

Yes, of course, Paul visited many many countries and cities wherein were many "genos"—languages. Although Greek was spoken by many people throughout the Roman Empire, there were, nonetheless, many families, clans, tribes, villages, towns, cities, and states in which all of the languages spoken at Pentecost in Jerusalem (Acts 2:1-11), plus many more.

Verse 19: "Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understand [mind] that, by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in a language."

Can all of you tongue-talkers say "A-men" to that admonition? Would you honestly and truly "RATHER speak five words with your understanding mind, than ten thousand words in a language?"

Need I remind anyone that, "…all LIARS shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death?"

Verse 20: "Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be you children, but in understanding be men."

Paul is saying; Brethren, please don’t desire to speak ten thousand words in a language for the purpose of turning a gift of The Most High into a display of the flesh. Rather speak just a few words in the Church, but speak them with real meaning and understanding.

And remember Paul is speaking to those who have the gift of speaking in FOREIGN LANGUAGES, not in speaking gibberish that HAS NO INTERPRETATION!

Verse 21: "In the law it is written, With men of other languages and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear Me, says The Most High"

The Most High drove His people into captivity where they spoke "another language," the Assyrian language. Yet they didn’t comprehend why The Most High did this to them. They could not equate their sins with their unfortunate dilemma. In Israel’s disbelief they didn’t understand the reason that they were captives in nations of other languages. Those foreign languages did not speak to their hearts.

Vast numbers of Messiahians place the highest possible value on their doctrines of "speaking in tongues." It is to them the surest PROOF that they possess and are filled with the very Spirit of The Most High. Oh really? But what saith the Scriptures:

"Unto the church of The Most High which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Messiah The Messiah, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of The Messiah Messiah our Lord, both their’s and our’s. Grace be unto you, and peace, from The Most High our Father, and from The Most High The Messiah Messiah. I thank my The Most High always on your behalf, for the grace of The Most High which is given you by The Messiah Messiah. That in every thing ye are enriched by Him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge.

Even as the testimony of Messiah was confirmed in you: So that YOU CAME BEHIND IN NO GIFT, WAITING FOR THE COMING OF OUR lord The Messiah Messiah" (I Cor. 1:1-7).

However… HOWEVER, despite all these wonderful gifts from The Most High, here was the real spiritual condition of most Corinthian believers:

"And I, brethren [the brethren of the whole church] could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes [‘be not children in understanding’ I Cor. 3:1] in Messiah. I have fed you with milk [all their ‘enrichment in utterance and knowledge’ Paul calls ‘MILK’] and not with meat [speaking in languages is milk, not meat] for hereto ye [the word ‘ye’ means ‘ALL of you’] were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are YET CARNAL… are ye not carnal, and walk as men?" (I Cor. 3:1-4).

The Corinthians came behind in NO GIFT—they DID speak in languages, but that gift did no more cause them to "hear Me" [The Most High], than if they had not been given this gift. One who did not possess the gift of languages could still be a very spiritually mature believer, and one who did possess this gift of languages could be "YET carnal."

Here’s the bottom line: The Corinthians "came behind in no gift," which included the gift of "utterance and knowledge." Yet, Paul says they were "babes on milk" that they were "not able to bear spiritual meat." And Paul admonished them: "Brethren, be not CHILDREN IN UNDERSTANDING," for that is exactly what they were—spiritual CHILDREN, and not mature men. And worse yet, they "were YET CARNAL." Just as Israel did not spiritually benefit when The Most High spoke to them "with other lips [languages]," neither did the Corinthians mature out of spiritual childhood even though The Most High not only spoke TO them, but also spoke THROUGH them by the miracle gift of "genos [the languages, tongues, and dialects, of many nationalities] languages."

And lest anyone believe that to be "yet carnal" merely means to be not quite spiritually mature yet, let’s read Paul’s own definition of "carnal":

"For to be carnally minded is DEATH… because the carnal mind is enmity [‘hostility, opposition, hatred’ against The Most High] for it is not subject to the law of The Most High, neither indeed can be" (Rom. 8:6a & 7).

Continuing in Verse 22: "Wherefore, languages are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying [inspired teaching and preaching] serves not for them that believe not, but for them which believe."

Paul says that "languages are a sign to nonbelievers." But how many times do Pentecostal tongue-talkers use this gift on nonbelievers, rather than among themselves which all believe. Just how is this a sign to believers? Then why would any wish to use this gift of languages among believers?

Verse 23-25: "If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with languages [all at the same time], and there come in those that are unlearned or unbelievers, will they not say that YE ARE MAD [CRAZY]? But if all prophesy [‘by COURSE’—one at a time, Ver. 27], and there come in one that believes not, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all: and thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship The Most High, and report that The Most High is in you of a truth."

Now here we have a real spiritual accomplishment. A sinner coming to true repentance and acknowledgement of the goodness of The Most High. And what has brought about this accomplishment of The Most High’s Spirit? Speaking in languages? NO. Prophesying or speaking the inspired word of The Most High with the understanding of the MIND, that’s what. But today’s tongue-talkers don’t even speak in genos languages. Does anyone really believe that chattering jabbers of gobbledygook, sputtering stammering stutter, or babbling a bunch of burble, will truly convert anyone?

Even worse are the public displays of this false doctrine on international television. Many times you will see world renowned preachers and teachers break out in the middle of their sermons or talks with incoherent bursts of babbling burbles, and then continue on speaking. Next time you hear such a shameful display of the flesh, remember the following points:

This is NOT one of the genos languages spoken by the early Apostles.

It is NOT by or from inspiration of The Most High.

All non-believers are NOT understanding what is being babbled.

The babbler is NOT following any admonition or instruction of the Scripture.

There is NOT an interpreter present to interpret this babbling burble.

Therefore, NOT even the believers understand what is being babbled.

This is NOT spiritually speaking in a real language, but is rather a vanity-filled demonstration and exhibition of the carnal FLESH!

Verses 26:28: "How is it then, brethren? [‘Well, my brothers, let’s add up what I am saying’ The Living Bible] When ye come together, every one of you has a psalm, has a doctrine, has a language, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done unto EDIFYING."

If "all things" done in any church do not "EDIFY" the entire body of believers, then what is being done is wrong and a sin.

If any man [‘any man’—‘Let you women keep SILENCE in the churches, for it is NOT PERMITTED for them to speak’ Verse 34, {not even in their own language}] speak in a language, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course [orderly: one at a time]; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him KEEP SILENCE IN THE CHURCH; and let him speak to himself, and to The Most High"

EVERY single word of every single language spoken in the congregation must be INTERPRETED, or let EVERY single tongue-talker "keep SILENCE in the church."

Let the prophets [inspired speakers] speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sits by, let the first hold his peace [keep silent]. For ye may all prophesy ONE BY ONE, that all may LEARN, and ALL may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are SUBJECT TO THE PROPHETS. For The Most High is not the author of CONFUSION, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints…

Paul’s instructions are clear: "ALL prophesying [inspired speaking of any kind, must be done…] …ONE by ONE." Is this always the way it is done in tongue-talking churches? And the reason given is so that "all may learn."

Next, a very important point: "The SPIRITS of the prophets are SUBJECT to the prophets." But is this the case within Charismatic and Pentecostal tongues-speaking churches? Or is it not rather the other way around, and the people themselves are subject to "the spirits" that control their shameful exhibitions?

Most do not know what they are saying, what they are praying, what they are singing, or how shamefully they are behaving. Why they even fall over BACKWARD in the presence of their The Most High! In all cases in the Scriptures of anyone paying homage to anyone, (be it a lord, king, or The Most High Himself), it was done by "falling on one’s FACE," (Abraham, Gen. 17:3 to The Messiah, Matt. 26:39), never by falling over backward.

Who ever heard of "falling over BACKWARD" to pay homage to a dignitary? Why, such an abomination is ‘not so much as named among the Gentiles,’ that one should blasphemy The Most High in paying homage by falling over BACKWARD in His presence! Just who is "subject" to whom, in such a disgusting carnival sideshow exhibition of the flesh?

And just what kind of "spirits" are we talking about here? Since "The Most High is not the author of confusion in these churches." These are "spirits of confusion."

This doctrine of "unknown tongues" IS "confusion" and it is more; it is "an idol of the heart" and the two go hand in hand:

"They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to CONFUSION together that are makers of IDOLS" (Isa. 45:16—also see Ezek. 14:3-7).

HAS THE GIFT OF LANGUAGES CEASED?

I have heard the argument used that if speaking in languages, as a gift from The Most High is not for us today, then neither is "prophecies" and "knowledge." But as both the gifts of prophesying and knowledge are still in use in the church, so also is the gift of languages. Ahhh, but, there is a mystery revealed in these verses if we have the spiritual mind to see it:

"Charity [love] NEVER FAILS [Gk: ekpipto, never become inefficient]: But whether there be prophecies they shall fail [Gk: katargeo—be rendered useless, vanish away, make void, nullify, be discarded, etc.]: whether there be languages, they shall cease [Gk: pauo—to stop, quit, desist, come to an end]; whether there by knowledge, it shall vanish away [Gk: katargeo—same as for prophecies]… and now abides faith, hope, charity [love], these three; but the greatest of these is charity" (I Cor. 13:1,8,13).

Love = never fails (ekpipto) [never lapses]

Prophesying = shall fail (katargeo) [be discarded]

Languages = shall cease (pauo) [will cease]

Knowledge = vanish away (katargeo) [be discarded]

What can we learn here? Well we can eliminate the first one, Love, for it will never fail. But notice the next three, prophesying, languages and knowledge do come to an eventual end, but apparently in different ways. And this is clearly seen by the use of different Greek words. Paul obviously said that prophesying would katargeo, and knowledge would also katargeo, but had a different take on what would happen to languages, as he said they would pauo rather than katargeo.

Why is that? Why do prophesying & knowledge come to one kind of an end, but languages comes to a different kind of a end? It is because The Most High has two different purposes for prophesying & knowledge, and languages.

The answer is found in the usage of the two words: katargeo and pauo. The King James Translators partly saw the answer, but they were not consistent (obviously so, they translated the very same Greek word, katargeo two different ways in the very same verse). They rightly stated that languages shall cease, but they saw how katargeo is used many times in Scripture, hence they said that "knowledge shall vanish away" rather than "cease."

Notice that both prophecies and knowledge are said to "fail and vanish away," as the same Greek word is used for both—katargeo. But when it says that languages shall cease it is a different word—pauo. Why is this? Do they not all meet with a similar fate? No, no they don’t, and that’s why a different word is used to describe their ending.

Remember that it is "usage" that determines the real meaning of words. Dictionaries and the study of etymology can be big helps, but in the end it is usage which gives us the best definition. And, the more and different ways that we can see a word used, the more precisely we can see its true meaning.

HOW KATARGEO AND PAUO ARE USED IN SCRIPTURE

The Greek word katargeo has the connotation of coming to an end, falling into disuse, annulling, discarding, growing old, useless, and being done away, etc.

Sometimes it can be used in a situation where something comes to an end rather quickly, but many many times it is used to describe something that is fading into disuse. That is why I drew out the word used by the KJV Translators in: "shall vanish away," as I wanted to show the feel of it stretching out over a period of time, and not something that comes to an abrupt end as in the word "cease." Here are some examples of how katargeo is used to represent something that expires or is discarded over a prolonged period:

"Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down, why cumbers/encumbers [Gk: katargeo] the ground" (Luke 13:7 — "…make even the ground useless," Rotherham).

Here we are told that this katargeo was rendering the ground useless for 3 years.

"Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but The Most High shall destroy [Gk: katargeo)] both it and them" (I Cor. 6:13—"…will be discarding it and them…," Concordant Literal New Testament).

In this verse we see that the process of The Most High "…discarding [katargeo] it and them…" is still going on after two thousand years.

"Then comes the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to The Most High, even the Father; when He shall have put down [Gk: katargeo] all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till he has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed [Gk: katargeo] is death" (I Cor. 15:24-26).

From the above we see that katargeo can take three years until something ends, or two thousand years and still counting till something else ends, or even throughout the entire reigning of The Messiah Messiah until all enemies including death itself is abolished. So here is Scriptural proof that anything that is a katargeo consummation can take as long as man is still in the flesh to come to a final end. And prophesying & knowledge are specifically said to come to a katargeo end. But NOT SO WITH LANGUAGES.

Here is how we are told that languages will consummate: "…whether there be languages, they shall cease [Gk: pauo—‘stop, quit, end, cease’]…’ (I Cor. 13:8). But is there a difference in the "time" it takes for something that is katargeo to end, and something that is pauo to end? Yes there is. Here is how the word pauo is used in Scripture:

"Now when He [The Messiah] he had left [Gk; pauo] speaking, He said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught" (Luke 5:4).

How long do we suppose it was between the time The Messiah stopped speaking and The Messiah commanded Peter? A few minutes? It was very quickly, not years.

"And they came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased [GK: pauo], and there was a calm" (Luke 8:24).

How long did it take to cause the wind and raging water to cease? A few minutes? Certainly not hours or days.

"And it came to pass, that as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased [Gk: pauo], one of His disciples said unto Him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And He said unto them. When ye pray, say…" (Luke 11:1-2).

The Messiah ceased praying in an instant. Or do we believe The Messiah went hours, or days between praying. To stop something by use of the word pauo is to end it very quickly.

"…and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left [Gk: pauo] beating of Paul. Then the chief captain came near, and took him…" (Acts 21:32).

As soon as they left beating of Paul the chief captain came. Not hours or days later, but right then. The word pauo does not linger for centuries as does the word katargeo.

When Paul teaches us that languages will end by way of pauo, he is telling us that languages will end very quickly as compared with prophesies & knowledge which will fade out over centuries and eons of time.

Therefore, we still have prophesies & knowledge, whereas the gift of languages is never ever mentioned again after I Cor. 14 for the remaining years of Paul’s ministry. Nor is the gift Of languages every mentioned by any other New Testament writer. Truly languages did CEASE.

And what we see today is a weak shameful counterfeit sham of the original Gift of languages in the early New Testament Church. The instruction of the Apostle Paul regulating the use and practice of speaking in languages is completely book-ended. There is no room for personal interpretation on this subject. The truth of this doctrine is found in I Cor. 14, and nowhere else.

If it isn’t a real genos language,

if it isn’t spoken one by one,

if it isn’t interpreted,

if it isn’t a sign to an unbeliever,

if it isn’t understood by the mind,

if it doesn’t edify the whole church,

then it is a counterfeit and a sham.

USING LANGUAGES IN PRIVATE

There is no more Scriptural backing for singing in languages, or praying in languages, or meditating in languages than there is to break any of the commandments regulating it in I Cor. 14. If one cannot interpret and thus understanding with their mind what they are singing, praising, praying or meditating, then it is useless and a sham.

PRAYING WITH GROANINGS

But isn’t there a verse that says something about the Spirit helping us praying with "groanings?" Isn’t this a form of talking in "unknown tongues?" Absolutely not. Let’s read the verse:

"Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought [Gk: ‘as it BEHOOVES’—that which is necessary & binding]: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings [What kind of groaings? Our groanings? The spirit groaning through US? NO…] …which CANNOT BE UTTERED" (Rom. 8:26. "…UNSPOKEN groans," Emphatic Diaglott, "…INARTICULATE groanings," Concordant Literal New Testament, etc.).

Sorry, but no justification for babbling burbles of gibberish in your prayers either!

Just how big of a deal is it if you are presently a tongue-speaker and you have been doing it for years, and you really like doing it, and you don’t see any urgency to stop now. How can that possibly hurt you? It will hurt you because you are participating in an unscriptural and demeaning shame. The one who clings to an "Idol of the heart" is the wicked and slothful servant who will have TAKEN FROM HIM what spiritual truth he may possess.

And never confuse GIFTS of the Spirit, with "FRUIT of the Spirit." For the FRUIT of the Spirit is higher than the Gifts of the Spirit than the heavens are higher than the earth. For all of the "GIFTS of the Spirit" are of the earth, EARTHY, whereas the "FRUIT of the Spirit" is truly HEAVENLY.

Do you believe that Paul admonished the Corinthians in VAIN when he said:

"So that ye come behind in no gift [‘the gifts of healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, kinds of languages, and interpretation of languages’] …And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual [Even with ALL of the Spiritual Gifts they possessed], but as unto carnal [‘hating The Most High, not being subject to The Most High’s law’] , even as unto BABES [‘infants, immature]… for ye are YET CARNAL" (I Cor. 1:7; 3:1 & 3).

If The Most High has shown you the truth regarding languages in this paper, and you still REFUSE to give it up, then you have an ‘idol of the heart,’ and ‘ye are YET carnal,’ which means that you do NOT love The Most High, neither are you subject to his spiritual law. You have reached the end of your spiritual growth, and if you don’t repent and give this idol up, then what you have already attained WILL BE TAKEN FROM YOU.

May The Most High be merciful and gracious to us all as we surrender to His perfect will for our lives.

moon

Genesis 1:14-16
14 And Elohim said, “Let lights come to be in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and appointed times, and for days and years, 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth.”And it came to be so. 16 And Elohim made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the stars.

Whatever phase of the moon you observe to keep the feast days and to start the month, this is the phase of the moon that you are implying and/or presupposing that יהוה made on the 4th day. Does it line up with Genesis 1:16?

Moon Facts:

People in different hemispheres see the moon in a slightly different way. In the Southern Hemisphere, people see the moon 'upside down' so the side which is shining (sunlit) seems the opposite from the Northern Hemisphere.

The moon takes about 27 days (27 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes, 11.6 seconds) to go around the earth and return to its starting position.

A lunar month is the time the moon takes to pass through a complete cycle of its phases and is measured from New Moon to New Moon. A lunar month is about 29.5 days (29 days, 12 hours, 43 minutes, 11.6 seconds). Some lunar months will have 29 days and some 30 days.

Why is a lunar month (29.5 days) longer than the number of days it takes the moon to orbit the earth (27.3)?

While the Moon is orbiting the earth, the earth is constantly moving because it is orbiting the sun. The moon therefore travels slightly more than 360° to get from one New Moon to the next. Thus the lunar month is longer.

The moon rises and sets at specific times, according to its phase.

Moon rise times
The New Moon always rises at sunrise.
The first quarter Moon rises at noon.
The Full Moon rises at sunset.
The last quarter Moon rises at midnight.
Moonrise takes place about 50 minutes later each day than the day before.

The Dark Moon (commonly called the New Moon) rises and sets at approximately the same time as the sun. The Dark Moon (the one you cannot see) occurs when the moon and the sun are on the same side of Earth. The moon is between the sun and the earth and therefore lost in the glare of the sun. We see the side that is not lit, so the moon appears dark to us. This is why you cannot see the dark moon at night. Therefore, the dark moon cannot rule the night.

Waxing Crescent Moon or Evening Sliver

The Waxing Crescent Moon can always be seen soon after sunset low in the West. Although it rises in the east a little after sunrise, you can't see it because it is too close to the sun during the day. When the sun sets, and the sky begins to darken, the moon pops into view in the western sky. This Crescent Moon disappears as soon as the western sky becomes dark. Therefore, the first visible Crescent Moon cannot rule the night.

The best time to see a Waxing Crescent Moon is on the second and third day after the Dark Moon (commonly called the New Moon) when the crescent is fatter and brighter, and further from the sun. The Crescent Moon can be seen at times on the first day after the Dark Moon.

Crescent Moon Visibility from Jerusalem for 2013
March 11, 2013 New Moon (Dark Moon)
March 12, 2013 less than 1% visibility but cannot be seen at sunset
March 13, 2013 greater than 1% visibility and can be seen at sunset

The Crescent Moon cannot be seen until its illumination is at around 1.0%. The Crescent was not seen in Jerusalem on March 12, 2013. The Crescent Moon was seen in Jerusalem on March 13, 2013 therefore the start of the month as they say. Does March 12, 2013 become a throw-away day because we cannot see the visible Crescent Moon? Special Note: The FVC (first visible crescent) was seen in The United States on March 12, 2013 but not seen in Jerusalem until March 13, 2013.

Does the moon renew and repair itself from the Crescent Moon until the Full Moon? If so, that means that the moon's renewal process take only 14 or 15 days. The moon has a 29 or 30 day renewal cycle from New Month to New Month.

Full Moon

The Full Moon looks the same no matter where you are on earth.

A Full Moon happens when the earth is between the sun and the moon. The Full Moon rises after sunset as the sky becomes dark and sets a little bit before sunrise as the night ends. A Full Moon is the only moon phase that shines the whole night through. The Full Moon definitely rules the night. If you don't believe any of this, take the time to observe how the moon operates in nature.

Does the month according to The Most High start with the Dark Moon (commonly called the New Moon), the Sliver or First Visible Crescent Moon, The Stars or the Full Moon?

Let the scriptures speak!

Exodus 12 (King James Version)

1 And יהוה spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,

2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

What was The Most High talking about? The Dark Moon? The first sighting of the Crescent Moon? The Full Moon? Or was he talking about the stars in determining the beginning of the month?

Sandwiched in between day 3 and day 4 is the key to understanding the beginning of the month.

Always ask better questions to get better answers.

know1

When studying scripture, here are a few questions you should ask:
#1. What is this passage of scripture saying?
#2. What is this passage of scripture NOT saying?
#3. What is being implied or pre-supposed (a presupposition) by this passage of scripture?

What is a presupposition you may ask?
A presupposition must be mutually known and understood through impication by the speaker and the listener for what is being said to be considered appropriate (true) in context of the text.

Consider this sentence:

'The sun shines'

The sentence assumes the existence of an singular object commonly known as 'the sun', and further assumes that one of the attributes of this object is that it shines - and is doing so now by the tense of the verb. By common knowledge and agreement, these facts are 'true', hence the presuppositions made in the sentence are fair, accurate and factual. These assumptions do not read into the text something that is not in the text.

Now, how does this fit within scripture?
Simple, let's look at Genesis 1:14-16

great-lights

14 And God (Elohim/Alahiym) said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God (Elohim/Alahiym) made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

What is this passage of scripture saying? Alahiym created TWO (2) Great Lights. Presupposition: The greater light to rule the whole day and the lesser of the great lights to rule the whole night by the mentioning of them both (the Sun & Moon) in the same statement. There is nothing in this passage to indicate or imply a partial day or a partial night

What is this passge NOT saying? It does not state the phase of the moon directly. However, the question can be asked when is the light of the moon at its greatest?

What patterns can be used to clarify the presupposition?

The Creator made everything in its fullness. Which came first the chicken or the egg? Of course, the chicken. Man was created as an adult and not as a baby. All of the animals, fruit trees, Herbs yielding plants were all created in their fullness, then they were told to be fruitful and multiply. Why would we think that the moon would have been made differently? Based upon patterns, the first phase of the moon would have been a FULL MOON.

Let us explore Genesis 1:13-19 further!

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 And Elohim said, let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And Elohim made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also. The words [he made] were added by the translators but is not found in the original text.

Genesis 1:16 should have been translated as ... And Elohim made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.

Remember this: Two (2) Lights! The Greater Light (The Sun) to rule the day and The Lesser Light (The Moon) to rule the night and the stars. YAH is specific and not vague!

How do we know this?

Psalm 136:8-9 (King James Version)

8 The sun to rule by day:

9 The moon and stars to rule by night:

Psalm 104:19 (King James Version)

19 He appointed the moon for seasons [Strong #4150 = "Mo'ed" =Appointed Times] : the sun knoweth his going down.

Automatically, the above verses validate with clarity Genesis 1:16. The stars and the moon must rule the night and not the stars only. You cannot take the moon out of the equation when determining the appointed seasons.

Before we go any further, it is important that we define some words.

New Month

Chodesh [New Month] comes from the root word chadash, pronounced khä·dash', which means to be new, renew, repair. Does the moon start the renewal process from the Dark Moon, the Crescent Moon, or the Full Moon?

When YAH created the two great lights, what was the phase of the moon when he created it? When is the light of the moon GREAT?

According to Genesis 1:16, The phase of the moon could not have been the Dark Moon because it cannot be seen at night. We know that it could not have been the Crescent Moon because it can only be seen at sunset but disappears at night. Nor could it be any other phase of the moon because the moon would not be at its greatest.

The only choice is the FULL MOON!. The moon rebuilds, renew, and repair itself from the phase of its greatness and fullness which was the phase first created by YAH!

Moon

The word “moon” comes from the Hebrew word “yareach” and means, “to be yellow.” The word “yareach” is also translated “month,” as is “chodesh”.

Exodus 2:2 So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months [yareachs].

1 King 6:37-38 In the fourth year the foundation of the house of ETERNAL was laid, in the month [yareach] of Ziv. And in the eleventh year, in the month [yareach] of Bul, which is the eighth month [chodesh], the house was finished in all its details and according to all its plans. So he was seven years in building it.

Season

Festival

The words Mo'ed and Chag/Khag both can carry the meaning "feast" but they are actually two different words and we'll see the difference when interpreting the scriptures in determining "The New Month".

The Most High appointed the first month to be ABIB (Exodus 13:4) to be the beginning of months. The name was changed to Nisan while the Israelites were in Babylonian captivity.

Exodus 12:1-2 (KJV) And The Most High spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, "This MONTH shall be unto you the beginning of MONTHS: it shall be the FIRST MONTH of the year to you." Notice that there is no reference as to what phase the moon was in when The Most High told this to Moses.

The Clues

The Hebrew word “Abib” means “young, green barley, green ears” This word is used to describe the spring when barley is young and the fields appear green.

Exodus 34:18 The Feast of Unleavened Bread you shall keep. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, in the appointed time of the month of Abib; for in the month of Abib you came out from Egypt.

The First Clue:

The beginning of months must begin in the month ABIB. This happens in the spring. Therefore, January cannot be the beginning of the year in the eyes of The Creator. We don't do Passover in January! Also, nowhere in scripture does it tell us to observe the Vernal Equinox in determining the first month of the year.

So, what other clues do we have available to us to discover the truth about the New Month?

The Second Clue:

Numbers 10:10 Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your Elohim: I am יהוה your Elohim.

A trumpet was to be blown at the beginning of months. The Hebrew for ‘beginning’ in this verse is ‘roshe’ which is usually translated ‘head’ or ‘top.’

What is the top/head of the month? We have been told that the top of the month starts from the Dark Moon or the Crescent Moon.

Question #1: If the moon (the lesser light) rules the night, then how can the Dark Moon (commonly called the New Moon) be the head, top, chief, or summit of the night if it cannot be seen at night?

Question #2: If the moon (the lesser light) rules the night, then how can the first visible Crescent Moon be the head, top, chief, or summit of the night if it cannot be seen at night? Remember the Crescent Moon can be seen at sunset and disappears at nightfall. Sunset ends the day and it does not start the day. Mark 4:35 & John 20:19

Wouldn’t it make more sense that the Full Moon is the ‘top’ or ‘head’ as it rules the complete night?

The Third Clue:

[Hebrew word: ‘keceh’ meaning full moon]

Psalm 81:3 KJV. Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed [‘keceh’], on our solemn feast day.

Psalm 81:3 NKJV. Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, at the Full Moon [‘keceh’], on our solemn feast day.”

Psalm 81:3-4 NEB. Blow the horn for the new month, for the Full Moon {‘keceh’} on the day of our pilgrim-feast.

Psalm 81:3 Tanakh. Blow the horn on the New Moon, on the Full Moon for our feast day.

If we read this verse "as is" from the original Hebrew, then the New Moon and the Full Moon are the same moon. There is no “and” in the Hebrew to imply these are separate events. When things are stated without a connector in Hebrew, the implication is that they are equivalent or the same. Psalms 81:3 is the scriptural basis for those of us who begin new months when the moon is full.

Let’s look at the Hebrew Interlinear Bible for more clarity:

Another example for Mo'ed & Chag/Khag:

Lev 23:1 And יהוה spake unto Moses, saying,

Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel , and say unto them, [Concerning] the feasts [Strong #4150 = Mo'ed/Appointed Times] of יהוה, which ye shall proclaim [to be] holy convocations [even] these [are] my feasts [Strong #4150 = "Mo'ed" = Appointed Times].

Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done : but the seventh day [is] the sabbath of rest , an holy convocation ye shall do no work [therein]: it [is] the sabbath of יהוה in all your dwellings .

Lev 23:4 These [are] the feasts [Strong #4150 = "Mo'ed" =Appointed Times] of יהוה, [even] holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons [Strong #4150 = "Mo'ed" = Appointed Times].

Lev 23:5 In the fourteenth [day] of the first month at even [is] YAH'S Passover.

Lev 23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month [is] the feast [Strong #2282 = "Chag/Khag" = Festival or Celebration] of unleavened bread unto יהוה: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread .

The New Moon is the Full Moon

The Dark Moon does not rule the night because you cannot see it at night. The Crescent Moon does not rule the night because it can only be seen at sunset, which is part of the day. As soon as night falls, the Crescent Moon disappears. Therefore, it cannot rule the night.

The Dark Moon or the Crescent Moon, as the sign for the first day of the month, cannot be found in The Bible.

Charles Voss stated, "The belief that the Full Moon is the moon that begins the new month is by far the least popular concept for a New Moon. There is almost universal disagreement and animosity with the concept of the Full Moon being the New Moon. Yet, ironically, this viewpoint is the only viewpoint with support from the Hebrew Scriptures."

Psalm 81:3 plainly states that the New Moon and the Full Moon are the same. Please notice the verse again:

Psalm 81:3 (Literal Hebrew to English transaltion). "Blow you in new (meaning moon), Shofar, in Full (meaning moon) today our celebration.”

The KJV uses the English word “appointed” which comes from the Hebrew word “kece.” Its only meaning is “Full Moon". The Hebrew root word for “kece” is “kacah” and means to cover over or clothe (in light). “Kece” is only used in one other place in the Bible.

NKJV Proverbs 7:18-20:
Come, let us take our fill of love until morning; Let us delight ourselves with love. For my husband is not at home; He has gone on a long journey; he has taken a bag of money with him, and will come home on the appointed [kece] day.

KJV Proverbs 7:20:
He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed [kece].

The Tanakh gives two different translations from different versions:

Tanakh 1985 - Proverbs 7:20 He took his bag of money with him and will return only at mid-month [kece].

Tanakh 1917/1955 - Proverbs 7:20 He hath taken the bag of money with him; he will come home at the FULL MOON [kece].

The New English Bible Proverbs 7:20:
He has taken a bag of silver with him; until the moon is full [kece], he will not be home.

NIV Proverbs 7:20:
He took his purse filled with money and will not be home till FULL MOON [kece].”

NRSVProverbs 7:20:
He took a bag of money with him; he will not come home until FULL MOON [kece].”

The New World Translation Proverbs 7:20
A bag of money he has taken in his hand. On the day of the FULL MOON [kece] he will come to his house.

The American Standard Bible
Proverbs 7:20 He has taken a bag of money with him: he will come at the FULL MOON [kece].

The New Revised American Standard Bible
Proverbs 7:20 He has taken a bag of money with him. At FULL MOON [kece] he will come home.

Moffatt
Proverbs 7:20: He has taken a bag of money with him; he will not be home till the FULL MOON [kece] feast.

1 Samuel 20 (King James Version)

5 And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon (new month or new month day), and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.

The translators decided to use the word “new moon” instead of new month or new month day. When David said tomorrow is the new moon, it had to have been during the day portion of a 24 hour period because he makes reference to “tomorrow” which would be the next day or next light. The new moon which is the full moon would have been seen that night because the moon is the lesser light and it rules the night. Genesis 1:16 and Psalms 136:7-9.

We will see why "new month" or "new moon day" would have been a better translation later. 1 Samuel 20:5 tells us that tomorrow is the next day.

18 Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.

19 And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel. Three days concluded at even on the third day as stated in verse 5

20 And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.

21 And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for there is peace to thee, and no hurt; as YAH liveth.

22 But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for YAH hath sent thee away.

23 And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, YAH be between thee and me for ever.

24 So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon (new moon day or new month) was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.

25 And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul's side, and David's place was empty.

26 Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean. Saul didn't speak that day. The Hebrew word for day comes from a root word meaning “the heat of the day”.

27 And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David's place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day? Notice that the translators used the word "month" here but they did not use new moon as in verse 5.

28 And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem:

29 And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king's table.

30 Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness?

31 For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.

32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?

33 And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.

34 So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.

35 And it came to pass in the morning (the morning started the day which was the third day), that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed (the third day) with David, and a little lad with him. Remember that David said that he would hide until the 3rd day at even, but Jonathan came in the morning on the third day.

36 And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.

37 And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?

38 And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.

39 But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.

40 And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.

41 And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.

42 And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of יהוה, saying, יהוה be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.

New Moon should have been translated New Month Day. Tomorrow is the next day or light and not the night. Jonathan went at the appointed time to meet David on the third day in the morning. Pay attention to the sequence. David knew that tomorrow was the next day and the new moon day. The moon must rule the night as stated in Psalms 136:7-9 and Genesis 1:14-16. The three days started with the new moon day and ended at the third day at even but Jonathan came in the morning of the third day.

Lastly, this is a simple study very easy to understand if we pay attention to the words of YAH that are validated by nature.

Isaiah 1:4 Your New Moons and your appointed feasts MY SOUL HATES; they are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them. Amos 8:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I do not savor your sacred assemblies.

Why? Because the people are keeping YAH's Appointed Times on the wrong days!

When studying other books that may have been taken out or that are separate all together from what we have as Scriptures. Here is my rule of thumb. I take what we have "The Torah" first and then work my way out. In others words, It must be found in Torah first before I can look at it in another book for further details. Many people work from the outside (other books) to the inside (Torah) to verify what they believe even if it cannot be found in Torah. Torah and other writings cannot contradict each other. If there is a contradiction then the other writings must be invalid or our interpretation is invalid.

Ecclesiasticus 43:6-8

6 He made the moon also to serve in her season for a declaration of times, and a sign of the world.

7 From the moon is the sign of feasts, a light that decreaseth in her perfection. The only phase of the moon possible in this passage is THE FULL MOON

8 The month is called after her name, increasing wonderfully in her changing, being an instrument of the armies above, shining in the firmament of heaven;

Book of Jubilees 6:23, 31-38

23. And on the new moon of the first month, and on the new moon of the fourth month, and on the new moon of the seventh month, and on the new moon of the tenth month are the days of remembrance, and the days of the seasons in the four divisions of the year. These are written and ordained as a testimony for ever. The 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th month determines the seasonal changes>

31. Thus it is engraven and ordained on the heavenly tables. And there is no neglecting (this commandment) for a single -year or from year to year.

32. And command thou the children of Israel that they observe the years according to this reckoning-three hundred and sixty-four days, and (these) will constitute a complete year, and they will not disturb its time from its days and from its feasts; for everything will fall out in them according to their testimony, and they will not leave out any day nor disturb any feasts.

33. But if they do neglect and do not observe them according to His commandment, then they will disturb all their seasons, and the years will be dislodged from this (order), [and they will disturb the seasons and the years will be dislodged] and they will neglect their ordinances.

34. And all the children of Israel will forget, and will not find the path of the years, and will forget the new moons, and seasons, and sabbaths, and they will go wrong as to all the order of the years.

35. For I know and from henceforth shall I declare it unto thee, and it is not of my own devising; for the book (lieth) written before me, and on the heavenly tables the division of days is ordained, lest they forget the feasts of the covenant and walk according to the feasts of the Gentiles after their error and after their ignorance.

36. For there will be those who will assuredly make observations of the moon--now (it) disturbeth the seasons and cometh in from year to year ten days too soon.

37. For this reason the years will come upon them when they will disturb (the order), and make an abominable (day) the day of testimony, and an unclean day a feast day, and they will confound all the days, the holy with the unclean, and the unclean day with the holy; for they will go wrong as to the months and sabbaths and feasts and jubilees.

38. For this reason I command and testify to thee that thou mayest testify to them; for after thy death thy children will disturb (them), so that they will not make the year three hundred and sixty-four days only, and for this reason they will go wrong as to the new moons and seasons and sabbaths and festivals, and they will eat all kinds of blood with all kinds of flesh.

How do we know this to be truth from The Book of Jubilees? Simply by observing the heavenly bodies and see how they operate day to day, month to month, season to season, and from year to year. VERIFIED!

Isaiah 55:9

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

In determining the feast days, we look for the heavenly sign first (The Moon) and then the earthly sign (primarily the month of the ABIB and secondly the changing of the season in the first month)

If we follow the heavenly sign of the moon only and forget about the earthly sign, then we will eventually start to keep the feast days out of season.

Why? Because the solar cycle is 364 days and the lunar cycle is 354 which is a 10 day difference. Eventually the feast days will be out of season every year by 10 days. In the course of 6 years, the feast days would be off by 60 days. This would definitely be the keeping of your own feast days in the winter time.
